Rockingham: Reflections on a new Millennium

A brand new film made with old footage by the Rockingham History Group was test screened on Tuesday 27th October 2015 at the village hall.

The film has been produced using archive footage filmed in 1999/2000. It features interviews with residents past and present alongside James Saunders Watson, current owner of Rockingham Castle and includes many old photos and faces from the village.

The test screening evening included an introduction from the History Group about the project, a screening of the film and an opportunity to comment on it before the final version is made available to all villagers and friends of the Rockingham heritage projects for free* in time for Christmas.

If you are interested in watching the film or receiving a copy, please email heritage@rockinghamvillage.co.uk

With thanks to History Group members, Rockingham Castle Estate, Creative IO, *the Heritage Lottery Fund and village residents past and present.

shame only a chosen few were filmed, and interviewed some only lived here recently I have footage of every single resident from 2002

  2. Hi Alan, thanks and yes just to be clear, the film was only made using footage that was filmed in 1999/2000 with Millennium Projects funding. I think it’s fair to say that having worked through over 80 hours of footage it was apparent that there wasn’t a plan for what the film would present and we worked hard to pull together a story of Rockingham based on short edits taken 15 years ago. It is of course only one story – but perhaps you could help shape that or future projects if you were to get involved in the history group? We’re hoping to get many other video clips added to a private video channel for the village – if so could I put the history group in touch with you to add some of your newer footage?
